River’s Edge is a master-planned community located in the Richmond, TX with natural parks, recreational courts, and a party barn. As the UI Designer and developer for this project, it was my responsibility to create a new web site design and build it from the ground up.
The River’s Edge community branded itself around the ranch-style look, priding themselves on the “party barn” built for their residents to use. The star icon was seen throughout the area. There was also a good use of slate rock used in the building of homes and lake embankments.
Using the design aspects of the neighborhood, I incorporated them into the design of the site. The rocky textures were used in the background in the pages and behind images. The star was used as a visual divider between blocks of content. The colors used were meant to convey the ranch-like feel of the community.
The site was built using WordPress as its content management system. Templates were created for the home and secondary pages that helped to define and standardize the layouts.
The work resulted in a site that reflected the ranch-style look and feel of the community. There is a richness to the design with the textures that gives volume to the site overall.
