Perry’s Steakhouse & Grille provides a fine dining experience with a beautifully designed environment and an award-winning menu. As the owners continued to improve the overall aesthetics of their restaurants, they sought to do the same with their website. As the Senior Web Designer & Developer, I worked with a team of designers, developers, and project managers to create a UI that reflected this experience.

Challenges

1
Visuals
The UI needed to display several photographs of the individual restaurants and close-ups of various menu items.
2
Content-heavy
The client required specific copy, along with tailored menus for each location (over 10 locations).
3
Regular Updates
Site content would need to be regularly updated to give fresh information to users regarding restaurant changes and events.

Approach

  • Collaboration
Regular meetings with Project Managers, Developers, and Stakeholders to be sure all requirements were being met.
  • Wireframes & Concepts
Designed low-fidelity wireframes to help visualize layouts and make quick adjustments as needed. This reduced the time working on high-fidelity concepts.
  • Relevant Content
Control over content visibility is provided to users through interface components, such as tabs and image enlargement.

Solution

  • User Control
Using interface components such as tabs, users were given control over the content they could view throughout the site, and this reduced the overall page count of the site.
  • Rich Visuals
Strong, rich visuals throughout the site reflected the beautiful environment of the restaurants, along with the succulent menu items.
  • Content Management System (CMS)
Using the WordPress content management system, content throughout the site could be updated quickly and easily by the average user.

Outcome

Overall user traffic, along with new customers, increased significantly after the launch of the new site design. Users could quickly take in the visuals and learn what they wanted to know within three clicks of entering the site. Using a CMS also helped administrators update content in five minutes or less.
