P97 Networks, Inc. partnered with a leading financial institution to create a platform that helps settle transactions made by retail companies that use offers created by vendors. Some of the functions included creating transaction agreements, setting up online accounts, and reviewing transaction data. As the Senior Product Designer, I collaborated with Project Managers, Developers, and stakeholders to create a user interface to manage these functionalities.

Challenges

Tight Deadline
1 month for UI design along with 1 month for development to get live in two months.

Complex process with goals requiring further clarification from stakeholders and project managers.

Approach

  • Collaboration
    Regular meetings with Project Managers, Developers, and Stakeholders to be sure all requirements were being met.
  • User Flows and Wireframes
    Outlined the user journey and designed low-fidelity wireframes to draw out early concepts.
  • Design System Library
    Created a library of UI components to draw from when designing UI and speed up UI design work.

Solution

  • Simple Design
    Used Google Material Design as the basis for a user-friendly UI.
  • Mindfulness of User
    Functions were broken up into a step-by-step process to “walk” users through the process and also included supporting text to help users better understand the purpose of each field.
  • Dashboard
    Dashboard helped provide a quick look at current transaction and settlement data.

Outcome

Stakeholders and users were pleased with the simplicity of the overall UI. Working together with them helped them to feel that their input was received and applied in the design. Users found it easy and a satisfying experience to complete the tasks that needed to be performed on the platform.
